About the Owner Marcas Houtchings

Working as a Park Ranger/ Firefighter, the Star Stove was created while camping in back-country and working to clear trees in the forest at the park. Working , learning, and getting to know issues from putting out fires, and working with species of insects and trees, helped me create the Star Stoves. Campfires are frowned upon because they make such an impact on wildlife because of wood collecting locations and the scorching of the forest floor. In schools, I won awards for artwork and took art classes with emphasis in drawing. Now I just enjoy drawing for fun and put my skills to use to make custom designs on the Star Stoves. Having the drive to work hard has gotten me to where I am today. I take pride in creating something small that can become something that someone like you can enjoy.

History of Star Stoves

The Star Stove utilizing an everyday natural resource along with enhanced crafting to make a safe low impact fire for recreational use. In 2000 the Star Stove was created which is making one of the first leave no trace fires with minimal hassle. The way the idea was started was the group needed a fire for illumination, cooking and warmth. Campfires were frown upon because they make such an impact on wildlife from wood collecting, locations and the scorching of the forest floor. Using the tools at hand and the skills of cutting, the Star Stove was produced and each time making one lead to improved and learned better ways to make the stove perform. The remarkable behaviors are from not burning the ground or to the outside (cool to the touch) and best of all no messy cleanups. The nicest part to the stove is the simple design, just pour a bit of lighter fluid in the middle top then carefully light the top. When you want to store the stove just lay the stove on its side. This way the stove doesn’t soak up any water and just repels the water naturally.
